A Dallas store clerk and father of three was shot and killed by a female customer during an argument over a bottle of water, authorities allege.

Aleigha Horn, 29, has been accused of capital murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the death of 52-year-old Inayath Syed, police said, according to KXAS-TVKDFW-TV and The Dallas Morning News.

On July 8, Syed was working as a cashier at a convenience store near the Dallas Zoo, when Horn approached him and placed a water bottle at the checkout counter.

Syed and Horn proceeded to engage in a verbal argument, according to surveillance footage and the arrest affidavit, KDFW reported. Horn then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Syed in the neck before walking out of the store with the bottled water.

She was captured by police in the nearby woods after Syed's coworkers chased after her.

Syed was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He died Monday.

"My father was the sole earner in my family which includes my mom and my two younger siblings who are 5 and 13 years old. My family is facing extreme financial challenges now and are in desperate need," of financial help, one of Syed's children pleaded, according to a GoFundMe description. "We are deeply grateful for any support and prayers during this incredibly difficult time."

Horn is being held on $1 million bail. It's unclear if she entered a plea to the charges.
